The effect of curcumin on HER-2 overexpressed breast cancer cell lines, specifically, BT-474 human ductal breast cancer cells and SKBR3, was evaluated by Lai et al. According to their results, the downregulation of HER-2 and EGFR in curcumin-treated cells was strongly related to the inhibition of signaling pathways, including PI3K/Akt (in which a decrease in the phosphorylation status of Akt was observed after curcumin treatment), MAPK, and NF-κΒ [64]. Here, ERBB2 is linked to breast cancer.
