From TCGA analysis, young-onset CRC was noted to have a higher propensity of mutations in the MMR and PI3K pathway genes compared to patients with average-onset CRC, yet with the addition of proteomic analysis, only two MMR proteins, MSH2 and MSH6, were found to have decreased expression in young-onset CRC [151]. The gene discussed is MSH2; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
