Former data have provided evidence that KMT9 plays a role in different types of cancer, where the ablation or inhibition of the enzyme affects tumor growth via distinct mechanisms including the deregulation of cell cycle progression and the induction of apoptosis (prostate cancer), non-apoptotic cell death (lung cancer), or the maintenance of stem cell populations (colorectal cancer) [44,48,49,50]. This evidence concerns the gene HEMK2 and prostate carcinoma.
