From this transcriptomic analysis, we have detected a multitude of molecular changes in brain cells exposed to intense hypoxia, which includes rigorous upregulation of canonical hypoxia response pathways, such as the “HIF-1 signaling pathway”, “Glycolysis/Gluconeogenesis”, and “Central carbon metabolism in cancer” (Figure 2, Figure 3 and Figure 4), significant reconfiguration of the hypoxia response machinery (Figure 5), and instigation of several core stress responses (Figure 6). The gene discussed is HIF1A; the disease is cancer.
