The association between carbonylated protein levels and SOD enzyme activity remained significant when it was analyzed separately for children with normal weight and those with obesity (Figure 2; normal weight: β = 0.02 ± 0.01, p = 2.2 × 10−3; obese: β = 0.03 ± 0.02, p = 0.03). This evidence concerns the gene SOD1 and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
