Recent studies have identified various inflammatory biomarkers, including eosinophil cationic protein (ECP), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), complement, and a range of adhesion molecules, namely, intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1), vascular cell adhesion molecule 1 (VCAM-1), endothelial leukocyte adhesion molecule 1 (ELAM-1), P-selectin and E-selectin, which appear to contribute significantly to the molecular pathogenesis of urticaria [11,12,13,14,15]. Here, ICAM1 is linked to urticaria.
