Patients with HTG-AP often have other complications, including metabolic diseases such as diabetes mellitus and obesity, and those with type 2 diabetes mellitus have an elevated risk of developing AP compared with patients without diabetes.[21] Serum calcium, LDH and CRP levels, which were included factors in the final model, have been reported as risk factors for SAP in a number of previous studies.[22–25] It is worth noting that although several factors were not included in the model that was ultimately constructed, they were also valuable in assessing the severity of AP. The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
