The acute mitochondrial response of the neuroblastoma cells to Glutaminase 1 (GLS1) inhibitor BPTES, which inhibits the oxidation of L-glutamine leading to a L-glutamate deficiency, led to a decrease of the mitochondrial respiration rate, averaging −1.5 pmol/min for SH-SY5Y cells (Figure 3a). Here, GLS is linked to neuroblastoma.
