When placing patients with “severe disease”, either disseminated or chronic pulmonary coccidioidomycosis, together and comparing them to the 1000 Genomes dataset, DECTIN-1 variants remained overrepresented, while PLCG2 and DUOX1/DUOXA1 were not, suggesting a role for DECTIN-1 recognition and signaling in control and clearance of the infection, as well as prevention of dissemination. The gene discussed is CLEC7A; the disease is infection.
