SLC7A11 and lung cancer: In lung cancer cells, p53 can promote the nuclear translocation of the deubiquitinating enzyme USP7, which further removes the ubiquitination of histone H2B from the SLC7A11 gene’s regulatory area, thus inhibiting the transcription of SLC7A11 and inactivating the expression of SCL7A11, thereby encouraging ferroptosis in cells (Wang et al., 2019).
