VEGFA, also known as vascular endothelial growth factor A, is considered to be a particularly interesting candidate gene, which has been attributed to its polymorphisms, its correlation with autoimmune disorders, and its induction of angiogenic factor expression in vitiligo; moreover, VEGFA may be a potential target for late-onset vitiligo therapy (Almasi-Nasrabadi et al., 2019). This evidence concerns the gene VEGFA and autoimmune disease.
