In patients with CBDS altered hepatic physiology and downregulation of the corresponding transporter proteins often lead to cholestasis, and DNts intervention in a rat of cholestasis resulted in a significant upregulation of the expression of BSEP, MRP2 as well as renal Organic Solute Transporter Beta (Ostβ) in liver tissues of the animals (Ding et al., 2014). The gene discussed is SLC51B; the disease is cholestasis.
