The interrelationship between DUOX2 and tumor-promoting microbiota requires a two-pronged strategy to reduce the risk of dysplasia in colitis-associated colorectal tumorigenesis.49 Although the causal effects of other genetic variants on GM and CTS still require further investigation, our findings suggest that host genetics and GM interactions play an important role in CRC development. The gene discussed is DUOX2; the disease is colitis.
