In B lymphoid cells, EBV infection leads to the rewiring of genomic loops between the ESE gene and regulatory regions of genes, including MYC (a proto-oncogene)89, BCL2L11 (encoding the pro-apoptotic Bcl-2 family binding protein Bim)89, AICDA (encoding the B-cell protein AID regulating class switch recombination and somatic hypermutation)18, and genes associated with leukocyte cell‒cell adhesion (NAALADL2-AS2, CD80, SLAMF1, and ZMIZ1)28. This evidence concerns the gene BCL2L11 and Epstein-Barr virus infection.
