To examine the effects of virus infection on triglyceride metabolism, we measured expression of key regulatory genes including peroxisome proliferator activated receptor α (PPARα), a master regulator of lipid metabolism which is highly expressed in liver and plays an important role in hepatic lipid metabolism [12]; fatty acid synthase (FASN), which mediates synthesis of fatty acids in the liver [13]; and very long chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase (VLCAD), which catalyzes the initial stage of lipid β-oxidation [14]. Here, ACADL is linked to viral infectious disease.
