In endometriosis, the genes and pathways involved in autophagy initiation and regulation (e.g., mTOR, HIF‐1α, C‐X‐C motif chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4), and estrogen receptor 1 (ESR1)) are upregulated, whereas the downstream ATG‐related genes (e.g., ULK1 and BECN165, 66, 84) and microtubule‐associated proteins (e.g., LC3‐I, LC3‐II, and LC3II/LC3I ratio) are often downregulated.74, 85, 86.
