Additionally and consistent with the above, several single nucleotide variants (SNVs) in the SIRT1 gene have been reported to be linked to multiple diseases, including inflammation, obesity, type 2 diabetes, blood pressure, dyslipidemia, cancer and coronary artery disease as risk or non-risk factors (Zillikens et al., 2009; Ramkaran et al., 2016). The gene discussed is SIRT1; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
