The increase of CerS6 might be due to an enhanced expression of the long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) ceramide synthase 6 antisense RNA1 (CerS6 AS1), which leads to an enhanced stability of CerS6 mRNA and has tumour-promoting activities in colon cancer [4, 15].
