In line with these findings, we can speculate that the CD45− and CD45+ cCAF subpopulations have different cellular origins, whereas the FAP+ CD45− population might be derived from resident fibroblasts, or epithelial (tumor) or endothelial cells that underwent mesenchymal transition, and the FAP+ CD45+ population might be derived from bone marrow‐derived mesenchymal stem cells that are recruited towards the tumor site. This evidence concerns the gene PTPRC and neoplasm.
