Despite a variety of experimental animal models of enteritis, such as IL-10 KO, T-cell transfer into recombination activating gene KO, and dextran sulfate sodium-induced colitis, which are widely used to study the molecular mechanisms underpinning IBD and can indeed partially replicate certain aspects of the disease, none of them fully reproduces the complex pathophysiology of human IBD. Here, IL10 is linked to inflammatory bowel disease.
