Although Lanzillo et al. [19] study revealed no significant difference in serum IGF-1 levels between MS patients and healthy controls, lower IGF-1/IGFBP-3 ratio and higher levels of IGFBP-3 were reported in their findings, possibly due to lowered IGF-1 bioavailability values for remyelination in more severe-stage MS patients with higher disability rate at ten years of the disease course. This evidence concerns the gene IGF1 and myeloid sarcoma.
