MTOR and prostate carcinoma: Phosphorylation of eIF4E is also elevated in many cancers as a result of RAS/RAF/ERK and PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling (Martineauet al., 2013) and leads to the preferential increase in translation of mRNAs encoding the pro-invasive matrix metalloproteinase MMP3 and the chemokine CCL2 in prostate cancer cells (Furicet al., 2010).
