Injectable treatment with thalidomide via an intraperitoneal route showed important results, particularly a reduction in lung inflammation in BD donors according to the levels of markers TNF-α, IL-1β, and NF-ĸB; however, the medication was not effective for the markers IL-6 and IL-10, which may be due to the duration/dose of drug action and the acute nature of the treatment, and there are promising outcomes related to the anti-inflammatory action of the drug in the literature. The gene discussed is IL6; the disease is inflammation.
