While the function of TRIM33 in cancer has not been fully elucidated, it has been identified as a tumour suppressor in several cancer types, including chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia (CMML) and hepatocellular cancer, where TRIM33 is downregulated through hypermethylation of its promoter region20,21. This evidence concerns the gene TRIM33 and monocytic leukemia.
