Wu X et al. studied the therapeutic potential of IL-4 in the prevention of steroid-induced osteonecrosis and reported that suppression of underlying inflammation by IL-4 alleviates steroid-associated osteonecrosis in mice by inhibiting the infiltration of M1 phenotypic macrophages and suppressing osteocytic apoptosis [10]. The gene discussed is IL4; the disease is osteonecrosis.
