The 78 kDa chaperone glucose‐regulated protein GRP78 (also known as heat shock protein A5 (HSPA5) or binding immunoglobulin protein (BiP)) is expressed mainly in the endoplasmic reticulum of human cells where it has a vital role in managing the correct folding of nascent proteins.[1, 2] In cells undergoing stress such as that encountered in disease states such as cancer and infection, GRP78 is upregulated and translocates to the cell surface (csGRP78).[3, 4, 5].
