Using an adenoviral delivery system to express ALOX15 in-vitro and in vivo in colon cancer models (HCT-116, HT-29, LoVo xenografts) expression and activities of ALOX15 were restored to therapeutic levels, expression of anti-apoptotic proteins including BcL-XL, X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein (XIAP) were downregulated, and growth of colon cancer xenografts in vivo as well as survival of cancer cell in vitro were inhibited [247]. The gene discussed is BCL2L1; the disease is colonic neoplasm.
