We have investigated that the protein expression of the VEGF-positive area and the mRNA expression of VEGF increased in the endometriosis group compared with the control group within the peritoneal cavity, as depicted in Figure 4D and Figure 6C. Similarly, trends were observed in the protein expression of the VEGF-positive area and the mRNA expression of VEGF in the peritoneum, as depicted in Figure 5D and Figure 6D. Li et al. suggest that VEGF-C is released by pro-inflammatory cytokine-stimulated endometriotic stromal cells. Here, VEGFA is linked to endometriosis.
