Considering the prevalent role of inhibitor receptors in regulating innate and adaptative immunity in chronic disease, such as MASLD, characterized by the hepatic progressive accumulation of exhausted CD8+ T cells, and in cancer, where the dysfunctional/exhausted T cells are prevalent, the upregulation of CTLA-4/b7 and TIGIT/CD112 checkpoint inhibitory receptors limits T cell survival and function.
