Alagbaoso and Mizuno [30] reported that Lentinula edodes polysaccharides greatly alleviated weight loss in mice with dextran sulfate sodium-induced colitis and inhibited the expression of proinflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, and IFN-γ), suggesting that the polysaccharide may be effective for treating inflammatory bowel disease. The gene discussed is TNF; the disease is inflammatory bowel disease.
