In suspected PBC cases, CTCs enriched from blood samples are evaluated by ICC to determine the expression of cancer antigen 19.9 (CA19.9), mammary serine proteinase inhibitor (Maspin) along with epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM), cytokeratins (CK), and the common leucocyte antigen (CD45). The gene discussed is EPCAM; the disease is intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma.
