In relation to bone turnover, the mothers who suffered COVID-19 featured higher levels of DKK-1, calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium as well as lower levels of OPG in placenta and higher levels of OPG, SOST, and PTH in colostrum—findings that would have noteworthy implications for fetal skeletal development and postnatal bone density and mineralization. This evidence concerns the gene PTH and COVID-19.
