The mislocalization of overexpressed CENP-A to the noncentromeric regions contributes to CIN, as demonstrated in studies from budding yeast, fission yeast, fruit fly, and human cells (Au et al, 2008; Gonzalez et al, 2014; Heun et al, 2006; Shrestha et al, 2017). This evidence concerns the gene CENPA and cervical squamous intraepithelial neoplasia.
