Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K), protein kinase B (PKB; also known as AKT), and mechanistic target of rapamycin kinase (mTOR) have been suggested as common signals mediating the development of neurodegenerative diseases such as SCZ, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and Huntington’s disease, and the development of cancer including lung, breast, colorectal, and prostate (Vanderplow et al. 2021; Sanaei et al. 2022). Here, AKT1 is linked to Parkinson disease.
