All patients fulfilled the ASAS criteria for axial spondyloarthritis, 17 had inflammatory back pain, 6 peripheral arthritis, 7 positive family history for spondyloarthritis, 4 psoriasis, 1 inflammatory bowel disease, 3 dactylitis, 4 enthesitis, 1 uveitis, 12 were positive for HLA-B27, 9 had a history of elevated C-reactive protein that was judged related to spondyloarthritis, and 11 fulfilled the radiographic part of the modified New York criteria. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and enthesitis.
