On analysis of predictors of mortality, the presence of preoperative dyspnea, ARDS, American Society of Anesthesiologists Physical Status (ASA-PS) Class IIIE/IVE, increase in sequential organ failure assessment (SOFA) score, Quick SOFA>1, higher creatinine, bilirubin, and lower albumin were observed to be associated with increased mortality. The gene discussed is ALB; the disease is acute respiratory distress syndrome.
