Consistent with our findings, a recent study showed that exogenous administration of the FGF19 analog NGM282 did not correct hyperglycemia in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) but instead caused a rapid and sustained reduction in hepatic Cyp7a1 levels and liver fat content in patients with MASLD (36). This evidence concerns the gene CYP7A1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
