The MIR-145 gene is located in the 1.6 kb region of chromosome 5q33.1, a conserved location in the genome, with 4.08 kb length, which is often deleted through tumorigenesis.21 It was shown that MIR-145 regulates cell apoptosis, proliferation, and differentiation of stem cells.22 In various human cancers, this tumor suppressor miRNA is commonly downregulated and influences carcinogenesis via targeting multiple genes and pathways.23 MIR-145 was reported to be downregulated in CRC primary tumors, which was correlated with the aggressive form of malignancy.
