NLRP3 and peritonitis: Yu et al. demonstrate that NLRP3 Cys126 can be palmitoylated by the palmitoyl transferase ZDHHC7 in macrophages, which is important for NLRP3 trans-Golgi network localization and the recruitment of the adaptor protein ASC, consequently promoting inflammasome assembly and accelerating the inflammatory responses in endotoxic shock and peritonitis in vivo.
