The APOA5 gene may have functions that modulate the activation of lipoprotein lipase, secretion of very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) particles, and interaction of the low-density lipoprotein (LDL) receptor family, which are implicated in MetS and thereby lead to an increased risk of coronary artery disease [12–14]. The gene discussed is APOA5; the disease is metabolic syndrome.
