Median plasma GFAP was 1214 pg/mL (IQR 147–8764) in patients with a primary cerebral cause of coma (including intracranial hemorrhage as defined above, ischemic stroke and CNS infection, but excluding epileptic seizures), and 35 pg/mL (IQR 29–64.5) in patients with other etiologies (p < 0.001). This evidence concerns the gene GFAP and ischemic stroke.
