For GSTP1rs1695, cumulative researches confirmed that no statistical significance was found between GSTP1 gene polymorphism and cancer risks.[117–119] However, we noticed that Bao et al[120] stated that the interaction of GSTP1 gene mutation and smoking might reduce the risk of gastric cancer; and a huge review of Caucasian had estimated that smoking could modify lung cancer risks of GSTP1 gene mutation in Caucasians.[121] In this study, we observed that the GSTP1 (AG + GG) variations might act as a protective factor among nondrinkers (OR = .840, P = .032). The gene discussed is GSTP1; the disease is gastric cancer.
