The analysis of mtDNA copy number measurements in CD14+ monocytes of study participants demonstrated that the mean number of mtDNA copies in monocytes of control study participants was 18 [9; 30], that was significantly lower than mtDNA copy number in the CHD group–28 [19; 31], p < 0.001 and in the obesity + CHD group–25 [15; 35], p < 0.001. The gene discussed is CD14; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
