THBS1 and HELLP syndrome: In a case‐control study, researchers found that maternal serum THBS1 levels were significantly lower in the PE group than in the healthy pregnancy group, suggesting that THBS1 may be a new biomarker for the detection and severity of PE.[9] Lower circulating THBS1 levels have also been observed in HELLP syndrome, which is a severe form of PE.[10] Nevertheless, much less is known about the specific mechanisms underlying THBS1 downregulation in PE.
