Thus, we became interested in whether the altered collagen XIII expression would affect the development of pulmonary fibrosis and used the bleomycin experimental model to induce pulmonary fibrosis in wild-type, Col13a1−/− and Col13a1tm/tm mice, the latter expressing only membrane-bound collagen XIII, with a 4-week follow-up for a strong histological effect (figure 3E). Here, COL13A1 is linked to pulmonary fibrosis.
