Compared to the WT mice that colonized with T.mu and infected with C. difficile (labeled as the CDI + T.mu group), the Ifngr−/− mice that colonized with T.mu and infected with C. difficile (labeled as the CT+Ifngr−/−group) had similar degrees of colonic atrophy, colon shortening, inflammatory cell infiltration (Fig. 4H–J), and goblet cell and MUC2 decreasing (Fig. 4K, L), suggesting that T.mu’s effective protection from CDI requires IFN-γ signaling.
