Resveratrol could increase the expression of Krüppel-like factor-2 (KLF2), involved in the prevention of atherosclerosis, which led to a reduction in pro-inflammatory cytokines (Chu et al., 2018) and various adhesion molecules including vascular cellular adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1), intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1), E selectin, and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) (SenBanerjee et al., 2004; Chu et al., 2018). The gene discussed is SELE; the disease is atherosclerosis.
