While some claim that Trem2 deficiency causes adipocyte hypertrophy and insulin resistance (Jaitin et al., 2019), Nathan et al. concluded that Trem2 deficiency causes adipocyte hypertrophy but not insulin resistance and that the differences in glycemic control reported in Trem2−/− mice can be explained by differences in body weight or fat mass (Winn et al., 2022).
