Brain metastases (BM) are diagnosed in approximately 25% of all patients with a first diagnosis of metastatic EGFR-mutated (EGFRm+) NSCLC, and this can rise to more than 50% during the course of the disease.1, 2, 3 Symptomatic BM are associated with a decrease in quality of life, and patients with BM have a worse prognosis compared with those without.4 The gene discussed is EGFR; the disease is non-small cell lung carcinoma.
