Therefore, we induced periodontitis in both Il33Δ/Δ (generated by crossing Il33flox/flox mice with Actb-Cre mice; Supplementary Fig. 20a, b) and Il1rl1–/– mice to determine whether signaling of the IL-33/ST2 axis or its modulation by a soluble decoy contributes to pathogenesis.
